All three of the area’s girls’ golf teams were in action on Monday during the state-qualifier tournaments. New London dominated their region to once again advance to the state meet and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Lexee Hartsock will go on as an individual. Mt. Pleasant, however, was shut out from qualification.

New London won the Class 1A regional in Sigourney by a full 27 strokes, shooting a 349. Iowa Valley advanced with a 376 and W-MU was three strokes shy with a 379.

Tiger ace Casey Noble dominated the meet, winning by 10 strokes with a 75. She was the top qualifier of any Class 1A team around the state and will be among the favorites for the invididual title next week.

Jaden Streeter finished third, shooting an 85 but getting bested by Central Decatur’s Kirsten Schaff via tiebreaker. Addie Pry shot an 89 for sixth, which put three Tigers in the top 10.

Summer Mallott and Carlie Loyd each shot 100 for New London. Hannah Orberg rounded out the team scores with a 118.

Hartsock made the cut with a fifth-place 89 for W-MU. Sabrina Moody and Lauren Hagge each finished five-strokes back of a qualification, each ending the day at 95.

Lauren Jamison scored a 100 for the fourth W-MU score. Abbie Cooley finished the day at 113 and Makenna Mullin shot a 131.

Mt. Pleasant shot a 426, which was seventh in their Class 3A regional at Davenport. Washington shot a 341 to win the meet nad Maquoketa qualified with a 396.

Anni Liechty finished the day just one shot off of a state-qualification, shooting a 97. Washington’s Megan Strabala finished at 96, which was the last score to go forward.

Keri Herr returned from injury and shot a 106 for the second-best Panther score. Tori Witthoft shot a 111. Melody Miller finished at 112. Michal Wohlleber shot a 116 and Elli Liechty finished the day at 117.

The area’s Class 1A qualifiers will compete at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown on Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30.
