KEOSAQUA — The New London football team stayed hot on Friday night, topping Van Buren 45-12 in their last non-district game of the season.

The Tigers exploded to a 26-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back en route to the 33-point win that kept their schedule unblemished through the first two weeks.

The Tigers once again had a huge day running the ball. Dallas Bell ran for 173 yards and two touchdowns and Keontae Luckett went for 146 yards and two scores of his own to lead the way. Javis Krieger ran for 49 yards and Jordan Johnson ran for 35 yards to give the Tigers five rushers over 30 yards.

Isaac McSorley went 6-9 for 135 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Mason Porter was his favorite target, catches four passes for 111 yards and two scores. Shae Summerfield and Krieger each caught one ball.

Jaxon Allen led the Tigers in tackles, with 6.5. Gavin Holmes had six tackles. Devin Lybarger had five tackles and Porter had 4.5 tackles.

New London forced three turnovers in the win. Bell had one interception, which he returned 53 yards. Gabe Carter and McSorley each had one fumble recovery.

The Tigers moved to 2-0 with the win. They’ll have a bye next week due to Danville’s season being cancelled and pick up with a big game at Montezuma on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
