The morning commute across Henry County saw a couple of accidents, though neither one of them was because of scattered showers or freezing rain on Tuesday.

Brianna Sanders, of Winfield, rolled her car on Highway 78, west of Winfield between Nashua Ave. and Marsh Ave. around 8 a.m.

Sanders was reaching for her baby’s bottle, who was secured in a car seat in the back seat of the car, when she lost control of her car. It rolled into the ditch before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Winfield Fire and Rescue and the Henry County Ambulance were at the scene of the accident.

The second accident happened on 275th St. in Mt. Pleasant. William Sloan, of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling westbound on 275th St. when he lost control of his 2000 gold Ford Taurus and slid across the road into the south ditch.

The driver’s side of the car struck a tree and came to a stop. Iowa State Patrol responded to the accident.

In Iowa State Patrol’s report, they stated that Sloan said a vehicle was driving toward him, which was “not sharing the lane.” Sloan was transported to Henry County Health Center (HCHC) by ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries.
