Two former Tigers to play in World Baseball Classic

The Iowa Wesleyan College baseball team will be represented by two alumni in the World Baseball Classic. They are playing in Qualifier 4 this week.

Edwin Jimenez (class of 2009) will be playing for the Philippines and Aaron Campbell (class of 2007) will be playing for New Zealand.

Jimenez and the Philippines will start the action off on Thursday, Nov. 15 as they take on Thailand.

Campbell and New Zealand will play Chinese Taipei in their first game of the qualifier.

The qualifying round will take place in New Taipei City, Taiwan and goes from Nov. 15-18.

The qualifying round is a double elimination pool play format. The winner of the qualifying round will advance to the 2013 World Baseball Classic Tournament, which will be held in March 2013.

The Championship round will be held at AT&T Park in San Francisco, Calif., March 17-19, 2013.
