The following are upcoming Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) blood drives happening in the local area:

-New London High School NHS will host a community blood drive from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 101 West Wilson St., inside the gym.

-The Danville High School National Honor Society will host a community blood drive from 7 to 11:45 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 419 N. Main St., inside the Danville High School Gym.

-Van Allen Elementary School will host a community blood drive from 3 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 801 E. Henry St., inside the gym.

-The Henry County community will host a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 2 to 6 p.m., at 1400 E. Washington St., inside the E3 Center Meeting Room.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate.

For questions about eligibility, call the MVRBC at 800-747-5401. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.

In the local area, MVRBC is the exclusive provider to Great River Health Systems and Henry County Health Center.
