Upcoming blood drives

Hearth and Home Technologies will host a community blood drive from noon to 3 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 14, inside the company’s training center, located at 1915 W. Saunders St.

Faith Christian Outreach Church will host a community blood drive from 3 to 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 15, inside the Multipurpose Room, located at 1302 E. Washington St.

Wayland Lions Club will host a community blood drive from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 17, inside the Community Center, located at 218 W. Main St.

Henry County Health Center will host a community blood drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 18, inside the Health Education Center, located at 407 S. White St.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Donors who last gave blood on or before 6/6/17 are eligible to give at this drive.

Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.
