Virginia Pauline Scotton, 70, Farmington, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington where the family will meet with friends from 2 to 4 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Peggy Elllingson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

A memorial has been established in her memory.

Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home of Farmington is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Born May 5, 1943, at Iuka, Ill. the daughter of Reuben “Smokey” and Martha (Moore) Hays. On Nov. 26, 1968, she married Jerry Earl Scotton. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Embury United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Croton Ladies Aide. She was a 1962 graduate of Harmony High School. She worked at the Fairfield Glove Factory. She was also a member of the Farmington Arts Council, the Farmington Cemetery Association. She worked weekly at the Farmington Food Pantry and helped with the Farmington senior citizen meals and with the annual Harmony Homecoming. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and playing jokes on people.

She is survived by her eight sisters, Mary (Roger) Chappell of Dobson, N.C., Emma (Bill) Denly of Farmington, Sandra (Sheldon) Bennett of Lomax, Ill., Shirley (George) Van Fleet of Plymouth, Ill., Linda Underwood of Ft. Madison, Norma (Mike) Hornung of Wayland, Mo., Roberta (Dale) Searcy of Mt. Sterling, and Rebecca (Paul) Crabtree of Keosauqua; and one brother, Ron (Sandy) Tinkler of Jacksonville, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jerry.
