W-MU girls take out Columbus in four

COLUMBUS — The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team finished the regular season with a bang on Tuesday night, topping Columbus Community in four sets.

W-MU domianted the first set 25-14 before getting nipped in the second set 25-22. The Wolves took the third set 25-13 and the fourth set 25-15 to finish the year off with a win.

Jenna Buffington and Lexee Hartsock co-led the Wolves with 18 kills apiece in the win. They also each had one block. Liana Sweezer had eight kills. Pearl Krieger-Coble had there kills and the duo of Lauren Jamison and Maci Richardson finished with one kill each.

Jamison had 29 assists on the day and eight digs. Kyndal Townsley finished with 20 kills to lead the team. Krieger-Coble finished with eight digs. Buffington had seven, and the trio of Hartsock, Sabrina Moody and Jami Wilkerson all had three.

The Wolves went 85-97 serving the ball with 12 aces. Buffington led the team with three aces. Jamison, Krieger-Coble, Moody and Wilkerson had two and Molly Jennings had one.

The Wolves moved to 12-18 with the win. They will host Keota during the first round of the regional tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
