WACO bests Columbus

WAYLAND — Aaliyah Brown smashed 13 kills and the WACO volleyball team came up with a four-set win over Southeast Iowa Super Conference North foe Columbus on Tuesday.

The Warriors upped their season record to 9-10 and their conference record to 2-3 with the win.

They split the first two games with the Wildcats, each team winning one by a score of 25-22.

However, the Warriors took the last two sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-21 to claim the SEISC victory.

Rosemary Skriver had eight kills in the match.

Ashlyn Hammen had 22 assists and Erika Leichty had 20 digs. Skriver and Bailey Graber had two blocks each.

Molly Edgar was a perfect 18-for-18 serving and Leichty was a perfect 17-for-17. Skriver was 20-for-21 and Leah McElhinney had four aces on 17-for-18 serving.

Next up for WACO is a trip to IMS in Kalona tonight (Thursday) for another conference match. The Warriors will then participate in the New London Tournament on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
