Wanita L. Milks 85, Salem, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services were held today, Monday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Congregational Church in Salem with the Rev. Aaron Helterbran officiating. The family received friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Park Place Elder Living in her memory.

She was born on Sept. 26, 1927, in rural Henry County, and was the daughter of Elmer Perry and Mae Garmoe Gill. She married Clifford W. Milks on January 9, 1946. He preceded her in death. She worked at the county home and later at the Henry County Health Center, both of Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and other Salem kids. She attended Salem Congregational Church.

She is survived by her children, Peggy (Larry) Hendricks of Salem and Gene (Emily) Milks of Mason, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pauline Vandenberg of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
