Warriors fall in tight road game

DONNELLSON — The WACO basketball team played tough during their road game at Central Lee on Friday night but the Warriors jut didn’t have enough to pull off the win, falling 48-41.

WACO hung in the game in the first two quarters to trail by just five points, at 23-18 before halftime.

The Warriors battled back to tie the game at 31-31 heading into the fourth quarter, but Central Lee was able to regain the lead and pull away for a seven-point win.

Wyatt Harbison led the Warriors with 12 points and three steals. Cornell Hulme had 10 points and three steals to give WACO two double-digit scorers.

Calvin Battle scored six points in the loss. Colton Horak filled the stat sheet with five points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Drew Kissell and Jacob Fried netted three points apiece and Nik Coble had two.

The Warriors fell to 3-17 on the year. They’ll host Louisa-Muscatine in their SEISC shootout match on Friday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m.
