Wayland Lions

At their regular November meeting, the Wayland Lions Club ap-proved another $500 for a second KIDSIGHT Camera – after the previous purchase was paid in full by a Riverside Riverboat Board Foundation Grant. Approval was given for a second hearing aid for a local resident.

At the December meeting, the club held their Christmas Party at the Wayland Community Center. President Jay Meyer read a letter from Iowa Lions Kidsight Trainer Al Olson thanking the Wayland Lions Club for committing another $500 to purchase a second new digital camera for testing young children to assess whether they may need preventive or corrective action for their sight.

This program has assisted children with unknown sight problems and provided information for a parent to pursue corrective action that previously had not been discovered.

Lions can assist with obtaining glasses through their Sight Programs.

Assisting President Jay Meyer with screenings were John Swartzendruber, Janet Sterling and Jim Renfro.

Special guest speaker for the evening was Sanaria Abusour, a foreign exchange student from Palestine who is living with Robert and Wendy Pusey.
