WAYLAND — With the completion of the Cummings Street reconstruction project, major construction projects are completed for the year in Wayland.

Wayland’s City Council, meeting in regular session Sept. 6, accepted the project. However, before the acceptance, the council approved change orders for sanitary sewer relocate and tie-ins; engineering fabric; addition of concrete to improve slopes and training; and seeding quantity increase. The total for the change orders came to $12,436.52.

In other business on a light-agenda night, the council discussed customer qualifications for energy efficiency rebates and will consider clarifications for next year’s program during a future council meeting.

Council members set Trick-or-treat night in Wayland on Oct. 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Discussion of the expense to install natural gas at 3386 Wayland Road led to the tabling of the matter.

Finally, the council:

• Approved Isaiah Stauffer as a volunteer firefighter to replace Jason Unternahrer who relocated from the community.

• Approve the city’s annual financial and urban renewal reports.

• Approved a motion to allow City Clerk Bev Conrad to attend the IMFOA/Data Tech Conference in Des Moines Oct. 18-20.

Next regular meeting for the council will be Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall.
