Wayland Lions Club looks toward 60th anniversary celebration

Nov 27, 2017

The Wayland Lions Club held their October meeting at the Wayland Community Center. There were 14 members present.

After club president Chuck Brown called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m., leading members in the Pledge of Allegiance, Larry Graber gave the Invocation and everyone broke for a meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.

Marianne Pattyson read the minutes of last meeting and Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report.

In old business, Ron Marsh, Larry Meyer, Stan Meyer and Brad Roth constructed a ramp at Vernon Leichty’s home for his use to facilitate his safe travel outside his home. Vernon Leichty supplied the materials for the volunteer Wayland Lion’s to complete the project.

Several projects were discussed to replace the Annual Fruit Sale, due to the closing of the supplier of the fruit for the last 25 years.

In new business, Wayland Lions Club was chartered on April 10, 1948, making April 10, 2018 its 60th anniversary of serving its communities. An Anniversary Membership Drive is being planned for April or May of next year.

Brown will put together a committee to organize the event.

Wayland Lions Club will have their Christmas Celebration Party on Dec. 19, at the Wayland Community Center.

The Wayland Lions Club is always welcoming New like minded citizens anxious to help and give back to their community. Call Terry Kaufman at People’s Bank at 319-256-2131 if interested.
