WAYLAND — Wayland residents will not see a change in their property tax rates for fiscal year 2019.

The city’s tax levy will remain at $7.35 per $1,000 valuation, the same rate as this past year. The rate was approved unanimously by the city council during its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, March 7.

City Clerk Beverly Conrad said in an email to The News that the levy is remaining the same in part because the city has no projects (i.e. streets) planned for the upcoming year.

Council members also approved the increase of the city’s water rate. The water rate will increase 4.5 percent. “Residents in city limits will increase from $6.60 to $6.90 per 1,000 gallons of water. Outside city limits will increase from $9.23 to $9.65 per 1,000 gallons of water effective their July billing (usage for June 2018).” Conrad said in an email.

In other business, the council approved the sale of a 1980 dump truck to Steve Kaufman for $2,801. No other bids were received for the sale.

The council also approved the purchase of a new commercial vacuum to replace the one used at the Community Center.

The next regular meeting of the Wayland City Council will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m., at City Hall.
