Wayland to purchase new police, utility truck

WAYLAND — The City of Wayland will be purchasing a new police truck and utility truck.

During a city council meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21, members of the city council authorized the purchase of a police truck from Mincer Ford in Columbus Junction, which bid $9,976 plus $207 for cruise control for the patrol vehicle. The city will trade in its current police truck.

The city also received bids from Brad Deery-Maquoketa for $14,584; Deery Brothers-West Burlington, $11,653; and McGrath Auto-Cedar Rapids, $11,228.16.

Mincer Ford also will be providing the city with a new utility truck as their bid, with trade in, came in at $14,389, plus $207 for cruise control. Other bids came from Brad Deery-Maquoketa, $17,045; Deery Brothers—West Burlington, $16,423; McGrath Auto—Cedar Rapids, $15,791.16.

The city council also reviewed water and sewer rates for residents. The city clerk was directed to draft a resolution to increase water rates as per City of Wayland Ordinance 92.12 of $0.30 per 1000 gallons of water usage. The city clerk also will consider paying off existing sewer debt early before borrowing funds for a new sewer project.

In other business, May 4, 2018, has been set as the city’s spring clean up day and citywide garage sales were set for June 8-9.

Wayland City Council will meet in regular session at 7:30 p.m., on Wed. March 7, 2018 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 218 W. Main St.
