Wilbur P. (Bud) Conrad, 90 longtime florist of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 21. 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established to Alzheimer’s Foundation and or to Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington in his memory. According to his wishes his body has been cremated.

Bud was born on January 18, 1923, in Burlington the son of Harold & Evelyn Grannaman Conrad. He was a 1941 graduate of Burlington High School following his graduation he joined the Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific. He had traveled with the Albert Nelson’s one man band for several years and the carnival. Bud started his career as a florist in 1937, working at Bock’s Flower Shop in Burlington and in 1958; he and Larry Willison opened Bud’s Flower Shop in Mt. Pleasant, after 37 years they retired on July 1, 1995. For many years he was a conductor on the Trolley during Midwest Old Thrashers. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington and a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his longtime friend Lawrence Willison of Mt. Pleasant and several cousins.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents.
