Winfield CCD boasts busy weekend schedule

Aug 01, 2013

WINFIELD — This year’s Winfield Crooked Creek Days theme is “Mardi Gras,” and just like the real Mardi Gras, there is plenty to do at Crooked Creek Days to keep people busy all weekend.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 2, the weekend kicks off with a carnival at 1 p.m., followed by the cardboard boat races held at Twin Lakes Country Club at 6 p.m.

The festivities continue on Saturday with the Crooked Creek Fun Run/Walk at 7:30 a.m. The Winfield Museum opens at 8 a.m. for tours and there will be a quilt show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

The annual Crooked Creek Days parade will begin at 10 a.m. and the carnival opens at 11 a.m. along with vendor booths. An adult slow pitch softball tournament also begins at 11 a.m. at the Winfield Commons.

The kids pedal pull begins at 12:30 p.m. on Main Street followed by the FFA little kids rodeo at 3 p.m.

There will be a Bill Riley Talent show on Saturday at 5 p.m. on the main stage, and from 8 to 11 p.m. will be a family friendly street dance.

At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday is the ecumenical church service at the Methodist Church. A tractor pull will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a car show at 1 p.m.

The Winfield Firefighters will have a water fight for kids and adults at 3 p.m., followed by outside karaoke from 5 to 8 p.m.

The weekend will come to a close at dusk with a fireworks show at Twin Lakes Country Club
