Jul 08, 2013

WINFIELD — The Cardinal baseball team pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of Winfield-Mt. Union’s fielding errors to score 16 runs in a big nonconference win over the Wolves on Friday night in Winfield, 16-1.

W-MU had two hits for one unearned run in the four-inning contest; Darren Hunter took the loss on the mound.

The Wolves are now 6-14 overall and remain 5-11 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.

They play again tonight (Monday) when they host Central Lee, starting with the JV game at 5:30 p.m.

They then play makeup games against Springville on Thursday in Winfield to end the regular season. The games against Springville were rained out earlier this year.

Postseason play starts for W-MU on Tuesday, July 16. They play Danville at Danville at 7 p.m.
