Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team falls in four sets at Pekin

PACKWOOD — The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team traveled to Packwood on Thursday night to take on Pekin in SEISC North Division action. The Wolves fell 3-1, falling 25-17 and 25-14 in the first two sets, won the third game 25-17 and dropped set four 25-19.

Lexee Hartsock led the team in kills, finishing with 11 of them in 42 attack attempts. Jenna Buffington had seven kills. Liana Sweezer finished with five kills. Lauren Jamison and Pearl Krieger-Coble finished with two kills apiece and the duo of Maci Richardson and Kyndal Townsley each finished with one.

Jamison had 18 assists in the game to lead the team. She also finished with the most blocks, at four.

Buffington and Townsley each had 14 digs in the loss. Jami Wilkerson had 11 digs to give the Wolves three players in double digits.

The Wolves went 67-74 on the serve with seven aces total. Wilkerson was 17-18. Krieger-Coble went 13-14 with three aces. Jamison was 11-12. Buffington went 8-9 with three aces and Kayla Edwards was 8-9 with an ace of her own.

The Wolves fell to 8-15 with the loss. They will compete in the New London tournament this Saturday, Sept. 30.
