Your Friend on the Front Page

Mar 03, 2017
Rose Lauer

Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Rose Lauer, whom you may know from the Henry County Board of Health.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I am originally from Wayland, but moved to Swedesburg when I got married.

What is your favorite part of living here? I think the diversity of people here is wonderful. I also love the landscape of the area.

What do you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of my free time with my mom and my family and friends.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? My family really loves attending Old Threshers every year. I also enjoy attending the Swedish Smorgasbord in Swedesburg.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? I think we are in desperate need of quality, affordable childcare centers.

What is a local treasure in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County you wish more people knew about? Our public schools contribute so much to our society in a great way and I don’t think many people really appreciate how much our educators do for our community and our kids.

Tell us something interesting about you? My mom used to work for the famous artist, Grant Wood, as a housekeeper for four years. I grew up hearing stories about Grant Wood from her.
