Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Rev. Trey Hegar, whom you may know from the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I am originally from Texas. I was born in Houston. My wife is from Iowa. We were living in South Carolina prior to moving to Mt. Pleasant to be closer to family.

What is your favorite part of living here? We enjoy the small home town feeling. This is a great place to raise a family.

What is your favorite local hangout? East Lake Park.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to play my guitar, golf, walk and bike.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? We like the music in the square each summer with the community band concerts.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? Better sidewalks, especially in front of Hy-Vee.

What is a local treasure in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County you wish more people knew about? All of the public arts, sports, concerts and lectures at Iowa Wesleyan University.

What do you think is Mt. Pleasant/Henry County’s trademark? Old Threshers and Butch’s River Rock Cafe.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Pork tenderloins.

Tell us something interesting about you? I can wiggle my ears.
