Your friend on the front page

Dr. Russell Cox

Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Dr. Russell Cox, whom you may know from Cox Chiropractic.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I grew up in St. Paul, in Lee County. I came to Mt. Pleasant 25 years ago to set up my chiropractic practice. I wanted to have my practice in a smaller, active community.

What is your favorite part of living here? The ability to live in a rural setting. I enjoy the peace and quiet that offers and yet to be able to drive to many great destinations all over the U.S. within a days drive.

What is your favorite local hangout? I enjoy eating at the Press Box.

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy working on our family acreage, planting food plots for wildlife and enhancing the timber and trimming trees and cutting wood. I also enjoy a good game of golf and of course I have a passion for bow hunting.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? I enjoy Old Threshers and the annual swap meet.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? Some kind of event center for shows, concerts and bigger seminar events.

What is your favorite summertime activity? Riding my motorcycle with my wife and exploring new road and seeing the countryside in Iowa as well as many other states.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Pizza.

Tell us something interesting about you? I owe my professional chiropractic career to two women — my mom who helped spur my interest in pursuing chiropractic college and my wife who is my office manager and is the backbone to our practice’s success.
