Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapsot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s “Friend on the Front Page” is Brant Kunsen, executive pastor of media at FCOC.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here?

I was born on the western side of Iowa, and moved to Mt. Pleasant at the age of two when my father took over as pastor of FCOC.

What is your favorite part of living here?

The good people and the community, which has a lot to offer if you know where to look.

What is your favorite local hangout?

I enjoy hanging out at the Iowa Wesleyan basketball and soccer games, cheering on the Tigers.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy hanging out with my family and volunteering around the community.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy?

The Festival of Lights and the Cradle of Hope banquet.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see?

There is always something more you could want, but it’s important to be thankful for what you have.

What is your favorite summertime activity?

Driving with the windows down, listening to music and eating ice cream.

What do you think is Mt. Pleasant/Henry County’s trademark?

The friendliness of the people.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant?

All the different ice cream locations around the county.

Tell us something interesting about you?

I am a reserve deputy for Henry County, a pilot, and I enjoy cooking.
