Your Friend on the Front Page

Sep 29, 2017

Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Krista Watts, whom you may know from Miss K’s Homemade Delectables & Con Amor Cupcakery.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I grew up in New Boston, Ill. I came to Mt. Pleasant when I took a job at the Mt. Pleasant Chamber Alliance. I specifically worked with tourism.

What is your favorite part of living here? It’s the perfect blend of being a small town, yet still having everything you need. I love the friendliness.

What is your favorite local hangout? Miss K’s, of course. but next I would say Central Park.

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy traveling on our Harley-Davidson motorcycle, family dinners on Sundays and playing the piano.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? All of them! Especially Old Threshers and Christmas on Main.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? I think we are great just the way we are.

What is your favorite autumn activity? Riding the Harley and catering the fall colors.

What do you think is Mt. Pleasant/Henry County’s trademark? Our lively downtown area, and of course Midwest Old Threshers.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? The caramel apples under the grandstand at Midwest Old Threshers.

Tell us something interesting about you? Our family motto is: “I come from a long, proud line of dorks!”
