Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Brad Moutrie, whom you may know from Moutrie Trucking.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? No. I am originally from Edina, Mo. My parents had moved to Mt. Pleasant after I graduated high school.

What is your favorite part of living here? The people. At the end of the day, most people in Mt. Pleasant are just good people, which has helped me develop many lasting friendships and business relationships that are dear to my heart.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? Old Threshers, hands down. When I first moved here, I really didn’t get it, but as time went on I started to attend to the point where my family and I won’t miss it. I think it’s a great focal point for our town and one that is recognized most anywhere I go.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? I’m going to sound so old school here but we need The Iris Restaurant back. I realize that The Iris will never be again, but I would really like to see an old, smoky, well-worn restaurant and bar that just fits like a favorite pair of blue jeans.

What do you think is Mt. Pleasant/Henry County’s trademark? For me, it’s the great business environment, and the way people are willing to work together. My wife and I have had a business in Mt. Pleasant for 20 years and have had excellent, loyal, local customers the entire time.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Pork Tenderloin. It amazes me how if you go somewhere else in the country, they either don’t know what a pork tenderloin is or what they call a tenderloin leaves a lot to be desired.
