Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Kayleigh Septer, reference librarian at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.

Are you originally from Mt.Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I was born in Cheyenne, Wyo. My parents and their family are originally from the area, and then we moved back in 1993 when I was about five years old and this is home, basically. I’ve lived here ever since.

What is your favorite part of living here? The small town community. Knowing everyone, it makes it feel like home.

What is your favorite local hangout? I would probably have to say the library. It’s where I work, but it’s also a place where people can come and hang out, read books, and find something for them specifically.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read, watch movies, go to the theater, hang out with friends.

Is there an annual event in Mt.Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? Old Threshers. It’s one of the biggest things and it’s annual. Every single year the town fills up and people come from all over. I get to go to the log village and do work and historically re-enact.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? More variety in restaurants. Different food options, because I know we’ve got a lot of pizza and a lot of other styles but seeing Italian or other types of restaurants would be good.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Well, personally I don’t eat them, but tenderloins.

Tell us something interesting about you? I am really good at memorizing dates, historical dates and things. That’s one of the things I can do.
