Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Holly Jones, whom you may know as the Director of Alumni & Parent Relations at Iowa Wesleyan University.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant? I’m from Mt. Pleasant originally.

What is your favorite part of living here? My favorite part of living in Mt. Pleasant is that we have a strong community focus.

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time you’ll find me spending time with family and friends, walking my adorable dog, Huckleberry, and volunteering in the community.

Is there an annual event in Mt.Pleasant that you enjoy? I always enjoy the Old Threshers Reunion. I’ve volunteered at the Log Village at Old Threshers since I was three years old with my family, so it’s always special for me. Around this time we also welcome our students back to campus at Iowa Wesleyan. It’s always such an exciting time of year!

Is there something Mt.Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? My husband and I enjoy using the walking path at East Lake Park, and would love to see the path around the entire community.

What is your favorite springtime activity? During the spring, I love spending time outside and in our area parks.

What do you think is the Mt. Pleasant trademark? I believe the trademark of Mt. Pleasant is our focus on community. It’s truly special to live and work in a community where so many individuals and organizations come together to achieve common goals.

Tell us something interesting about you? Many don’t know this, but I’m very interested in studying history. I think this interest derived from growing up in Mt.Pleasant, a community that has a very rich history.
