Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Angie Rhum, whom you may know from Henry County Public Health.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant? If not, what brought you here? I am originally from Armstrong, which is a small town in northwest Iowa. We moved to the area 23 years ago to be closer to family and my husband’s job. I have worked in Public Health for 23 years in another county and just recently accepted a position at Henry County Public Health.

What is your favorite part of living here? The people in the community are always friendly. Love walking in a store or outside and everyone smiles and says “Hi”.

What is your favorite local hangout? I really enjoy the park on the square. It is a very nice area.

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time, I like to walk outside, put jigsaw puzzles together and bake.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? I enjoy the Christmas Lights.

What is your favorite summertime activity? I really like relaxing at the swimming pool.

What do you think is Mt. Pleasant’s trademark? For me, I think the collection of old homes in the town is impressive. I like how they are well preserved and show a rich history.

What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? I would say the Dilly Bars at DQ. They are a favorite at the office.

Tell us something interesting about you. I have always been fascinated by the weather. I always thought if nursing didn’t work out, I wanted to be a meteorologist. And to take that to the next level, maybe a storm chaser. If I could be 100% sure I wouldn’t get hurt (or anyone else), I would love to be up close to a tornado.
